Default Reinstalling XP from USB DVD Drive - Drive E? - 12-22-2009, 05:02 PM

I decided to reinstall WinXP from the CD that came with my 10v using a USB DVD drive. I had deleted the original partititions and thought I would let XP recreate them.

However, XP wants to install the operating system on a drive it is calling E, but I want the drive to called C.

Any ideas? Thanks.

You may find that once XP is installed, the drive will be C. Did you delete all the partitions and ask the install to use the "unpartitioned space"?

I resolved the problem.

My first attempt installed the OS on the E drive, which I couldn't change once the install was complete.

The third time I tried to do it I had the install create the partition and then I forced a stop there. I started the install again and it then considered the new partition drive C.
