Default How can I turn my mini 10v into a typewriter? - 12-18-2009, 09:48 PM

Hi, I have this mini 10v, and it was nice when I got it, but now it is just boring. Now that internet is getting to be a thing of the past, I do not know what else I can do on the mini 10v. So today I thought, why not turn it into a typewriter. First of all, you obviously have to get the screen off, so I thought about how I should go about doing that.

I figured out that you have to just hold the bottom down steady, and push the lid back kind of hard, and You can hear the hinges inside snap up. Then you just have to pull the screen assembly and hinges out of the rest of the computer.

Right now I am stuck though because I have the computer assembly, and it is all intact, but through the hinge holes, there are alot of wires coming from one side, and then two wires coming from the other. How do I connect the wires to my automatic typewriter parts so that It works good?

here's a picture of how far I got as of now. Sorry that you can't see the wires, they must be bent under the computer:

Yeah right. Why don't you post a pic of the mini 10 bezel so we can see what it looks like.

Get some close in shots, I'm curious to see if there are air pockets around the bezel underneath the plastic cover. I think it's just glued on am I correct? Did you really pop off the cover by pushing really hard?

Printer? That's not a typewriter. I don't think you'll have room for the standard hammers, but perhaps a pop-up Selectric ball?

hmmm you should have sold it and bought a new typewriter!

Or...use the 10v and figure otu how to travel back into time and snag yourself a mint IBM select-type typewriter with the cool ball.

Don't forget the "ding!" bell, though perhaps you could play a .wav for that.
