Been hackintoshing since 10.4 !!
Went ahead and ordered a 10v for OSX purposes, since I was completely blown away with the Mini9 in terms of.. lol.. everything, even after knowing exactly what to expect!
The thing is, I have never had one in my hands to inspect though...
Anyways, I plan on a new HDD, triple booting OSx (main), Wincrap7 (I have to unfortunately) and Ubuntu Karmic Koala 9.10. No issues there.
1 - Bios... best is A05 ?
2 - With a 7,200 HDD, how long does the stock 3-cell battery last vs 6-cell ? What about 5,400, any substantial power gains?
2.1 - Regarding the chinese 6-cell that one has to carve-to-fit, these are cheaper and work just fine right? How can I tell them appart?
3 - To update to 2GB ram, do I have to dissasemble half the computer? Any special tools I need?
4 - My Mini 9 (that I bought off the street for 100€) came with the Wireless 5530 3G/HSDPA Mobile Broadband Card, that also has GPS. Can I simply pop it out and install it in the 10v? Space, slots? the Mini9 came from a Vodafone contract, will I be able to use other carriers, or are these chips locked, like simcards?
5 - About wifi, is the Dell half-stacked wifi necessary? Will a full size fit? Is it true that the "N" version has loads of problems with OSx? I dont plan to go much on hotspots, just home network. Which has better reception? Stock wifi 10v vs Mini 9 ... I found the reception on the Mini 9 ok, but could be much better in conparison to other brands....
