I was wondering if you guys can lead me in the right direction. The os cd that comes with the computer, that is a fresh, untouched windows xp cD? by untouched, i mean, without all the dell crap.
Also, i was wondering, should i forgo the xp reinstall and opt for a windows 7 install?
and also
what browser do you guys think is best? I like firefox and chrome, but i just wanna see what you guys think.
thanks.

I happen to love FF, I have been using it since like version 1.0 and now am on 3.5.5 and I hear that 3.6 is going to address how it handles memory which would be nice...but I recommend FF whole heartedly....

If you plan to stick with Windows... and why not!... I can't see any real reason not to go for a 'clean' installation of Windows 7. It was designed with Netbooks in mind, and Dell have already published the necessary hardware driver updates, although third party 'manufacturer specific' ones are also available in a lot of cases.

With regards to browsers, I personally use Internet Explorer 8 but I wouldn't go so far as to say it is the 'best'... like a lot of software options it is all down to personal preference, and we all have our own favourites!

I started with my Mini pre-loaded with XP. The GF had W7 Home Premium to upgrade her Vista and was so impressed with W7 she convinced me to upgrade the Mini to W7. So I clean installed W7 and have worked through the issues and have no regrets. It's nice. As for browser, IE8 because it's there and why not. HTH

OH, AND I FORGOT THE BEST PART: when you shutdown, the OS shuts down in less than a minute and the Mini also shuts down too
