Default keyboard issue - 11-25-2009, 12:52 PM

Hi All,
My issue with mini 10v is that some key presses give unexpected results, for example press (shift ') for a @ but then get " whereas (shift 2) " gives @......

I'm new to SL OSX 10.6.2 but have seen similar issues in Windoze, resolved by locale options, btw it was an issue before the OS upgrade.

I have chosen UK options (eg British English) where possible during the os load. I've just been looking around in System Prefs and seen Keyboard Viewer which shows an Apple British keybd layout and sure enough confirms this issue. Anyone got any ideas how to persuade the keyboard to perform the task of producing what the keys actually show else how does anyone type an email addy?

Apologies if this is a stupid question but unfortunately it seems that is my default setting!
