Didn't see this posted yet: Dell will be selling the new Mini 10v with XP for $249 on Black Friday.
Here's the ad link:

This is for the base model, 1G, 120G HD, XP. Isn't that the regular price for that config?

No. This configuration has the 160GB HDD and the 1.3MP camera. That configuration currently is $368.
Here's the actual ad scan for this item: Black Friday Dell Mini 10v Ad
I'm not sure how good it is, but the matching Dell portable USB DVD+/-RW drive which sold for $100 will also be on sale for $59.99: Here

Well, after I alerted a few friends I went to the site for that discount code and ended up with this. Now where can it be had for $250?

I believe it is a Black Friday only ad using that code. And yes this is the base configuration. The regular price is $279/$299 depending on FastTrack.

Default dell.com .... what a mess - 11-24-2009, 01:14 AM

I went to dell.com looking for this deal. What a mess. I apologize if everyone knows this already.....

I found you can get the Mini 10v for $279 w/ free shipping if you're a home user. But you have to click through as a "small business" user to get the 250g HDD option; or if you click through a different way, you can get the 2g memory option; but you can't get both. These options are for Ubuntu only, not Windows. Then you'd have to pay shipping charges.

If you use the "E-value" code 00394-DNPHFE1, the price jumps to a whopping $368. I'm guessing this will change on black Friday.

I'm finding out part of the challenge is to out-smart the Dell website.

sheesh.

thats interesting that the business method allows a 2 gig memory option... i would love to save the trouble opening the thing. thats a "$50" option, but brings the total to $329, which is $80 more than the black friday deal. i dont think its worth $80. and you lose xp, if you wanted the option
i wish there was a 10v section in the small business outlet section to save some cash...

is there a chance there will be other black friday coupon codes, possibly for business? or would you at least be able to upgrade to a 6 cell batter with the $249 deal... anyone know?

Ah, that day only, got it. The note on the bottom saying expires 11/27 threw me. We are talking about the DELL site right?.....that's where you buy the thing? I'm not familiar with how The black friday ads site works, just a central place for ads it looks like.

If I get one it will be to hack, so thanks to the other poster too as I may be better off getting the bigger HD.....I don't care about windows. I find the Dell site annoying......all those stupid accessories they try to pawn off on you. They do however have a reason behind only offering 1gig of Ram with XP as it's part of their agreement with Microsoft. Prior, any machine with over 1gig had to be offered with Vista. I assume now that's true for Win7, so you can only get the 2gigs of ram with Ubuntu.

Ok, I just clicked through the Dell site under the small business option. here's what's there for the Mini10V.

1 Gig of Ram is the Max for the XP Model.

2 Gigs of Ram is the Max for the Ubuntu Model.

A 160Gig HD is the Max for both the XP And Ubuntu models.

Only the Mini10, not the Mini10V offers the option of a 250Gig HD.

The larger battery option is offered for all of them. Happy shopping
