Ordered a Mini 10V yesterday to surprise my wife for xmas... ordered it with a 12/15/09 preliminary ship date... well, a couple hours later, I got the email with an estimated delivery date of 1/21/10.

Yikes... never mind... called and canceled.

I think the delay was due to the custom cover. I was thinking these only added about 4 days to the order, which agreed with my preliminary shipping info (was about 12/10/09 without custom cover).

So, this morning I checked, and design studio covers (at least the ones I checked; a couple OPI and a NY Yankees one) were adding 21 days to the order. And, doesn't appear to be 21 days from now... going from black cover (preliminary ship date of 12/14/09) to NY Yankees cover makes the preliminary ship date go to 1/12/10 (almost a month later), and 40+ days from now.

I would have thought that in this day and age that a PC mfr could project delivery dates a little better (12/15/09 preliminary shipping date turning into an estimated delivery of 1/21/10 within a couple hours is not so good).

Oh, it says this right here where you select the color (configuration)...

"Design Studio adds approximately 3 days to the build process and is already included in your estimated shipping date. "

But, then when you click "May delay your Inspiron Mini 10V ship date" link, it says...

Mini 10v Design Studio Image ---- 21* day delay
*not including weekends

OK, 3 to 21 is a huge jump... wondering if there is a major problem with the vendor that makes the covers...
