Is the Dell Mini 10v the best bet for my Hackint0sh? Simply Yes What is the maximum amount of RAM I can upgrade to? The Dell Mini 10v uses the chip set 945GSE which has a limit of 2GB

Yes. Because then I would not make millions of threads about Intel® Atom Processor® N280 (1.66GHz/667MHz FSB/512K cache) for 25$ or the processer N270 (already answered) or What is hackintosh? Make a faq section!!!!!!!!! |

I would actually make it similar to how the guide section looks. This way you can link a specific section. For example, I am searching how to update from 10.6 to 10.6.1 today. If there were a guide for that I'd be here. If there were an FAQ that said "running software update is ok so long as you do ..." Anyway, this is a forum. People are going to ask regardless of an FAQ/Guide/Sticky. It's the nature of the internet and lazy people. I for one would like it to either reference or link to. |

yes, it's needed. so many answers get lost in the rivers of threads and responses that it's hard to go back and find what you want. going to the guides for the "lastest greatest procedure for no problem installs" nets you an out of date procedure. it would be very helpful to have "best practices" distilled and revised with each new install fix or version. so many threads ask the same question over and over again because it's difficult for a newbie to know how to ask the right question and spend days searching the threads -- and THEN figure out what the best answer is! I'm trying to buy a 10v to hackint0sh, and my options for wireless are the 1397 or 1510, anyone have any ideas on which one works better with Snow Leopard? I've searched around but everytime someone says "I've got SL 10.6 working with my Mini 10v perfectly!" they always neglect to mention which wifi card they are using. Other than that I've seen one post where someone mentions the performance with 1510 is spotty. I would greatly appreciate it if someone can point me to the better card to get given these 2 choices, and this might be a good item to add to the FAQ! Thanks |

I believe both work with SNL so I think it just depends on want you want. The 1397 supports b/g and the 1510 supports a/g/n. Myself I have the 1397 w/ a usb wireless-n dongle (mini one) which works fine for me since I surf the wifi hot spots and a lot of them still use wireless-b networks.
