Thanks folks - 10.6.1 hackintosh success! - 11-16-2009, 05:20 AM
Thanks folks for all the hard work here in the forums. I have a successful Dell Mini 10v running 10.6.1 with bios A05.
I followed the gizmodo article and the GREAT instructions guide from mechdrew and all turned out peachy.
I waited for the 15% sale from the Dell Outlet store and purchased mine for $237 with the 802.11n wireless card. The bios was already at A05, no rolling back required. It has the 3 cell battery and I purchased an LG external drive from Newegg for $60.
A fully functioning mac mini laptop, everything works, camera, sleep, wireless. Time Machine and SuperDuper complete my backup needs.
Minor Install Issue:
My only install issue with Snow Leopard was that I had to power cycle post install as described by mechdrew.
I was up and running after the initial USB stick prep in just about an hour.
Minor Usability Issues:
1. The OSX DVD player doesn't work (it looks for internal DVD drive) but I downloaded VLC solving the DVD playback problem.
2. No USB mouse when sleeping, won't wake up ... no biggie
Upgraded to 10.6.1 and a rerunning of NetBookInstaller was problem free.
Thanks again, you guys ROCK!

PS My college daughter saw it and wants it, so I'm shopping for 2 more Mini's for Christmas.
