Default SMART Failure Predicted on First Boot - 11-03-2009, 08:19 PM

Well, I just got my brand new Mini 10v, everything all ready to throw OS X and Win7 on it.. And on the first virginal boot, I get the SMART Failure Predicted on Hard Disk 2 Error telling me to back up my data immediately.

WTF the computer was never even turned on. I'm looking at my XP install right now, everything works fine, but I'm wary to do anything to the mini right now. Ugghh what do I do?
And why is it labeled a Hard Disk 2? Shouldn't it be 0? ARG!

Well I dont know what that was all about. After a windows 7 pro install and a NBI RC3 SL install, everythings been working 100%. I haven't gotten any other errors on boot ever again.
Very strange, but welcome!

Well, it came back. My computer restarted itself, presumably after downloading updates on the Win 7 install, and the BIOS is now "Shadowed". Not sure what this means or why, but after getting back into my OS X installation, all seemed fine.

Now, the computer starts up, says BIOS is shadowed for both System and Video, takes an extra few seconds to initialize the mouse, and posts a SMART drive check imminent failure on the Samsung HD. WTF. Now Windows 7 posts a disk error warning, prompting me to back up my files ASAP. I want to clone this Mini because the Dual Boot took a while to setup. What should I do? I bought this new in the box off eBay about a month ago. Should I just clone, wipe, and return it?
Uggghh

the only thing I can think of is if you upgraded the hard drive, you might have done something that messed up the drive.

Unless of course Dell gave you a crappy hard drive, in which case call 'em up and send it back.
