I've spent the past two days equipping my 10v laptop with a Backlit Logo on the lid. The emblem modified from a stainless steel keychain (with my companies logo on it). I modified the keychain with lots of grinding, sanding, and polishing so it would work for this application. Drilled 2 holes for mounting.
After disassembling the 10v to the point I could access the LCD lid, I sanded the lid to the point the dell logo was no more (I still love you dell).
After painting the lid, I made a couple of special screws to mount the emblem. Polished them up, and used them to mount the emblem to the lid.
Next, I used a dremel to cut out the plastic lid areas behind the emblem I wanted light to show through.
Don't laugh, but I used Hot glue as my transparent medium to catch the light. Easy to use, good color, and really passes light well.
To get the light to the emblem, I cut foil away in to spots between the lid and the actual LCD screen.
It's not as pretty as my Macbook Pro backlit apple, but it does have my company logo on it so I like it better.
