i just got home from the pc shop they upgraded my 10v for me to a crucial 2gb ram. The computer runs quick now. i love it. but i just realized the sound is gone. the speakers are at 100 percent but there is no sound. any ideas? did they forget to connect something? i tried the headphones and they worked fine

Sounds (no pun intended) like they failed to re-attach the speaker cable that's under the palm rest. (I think that's the one that's to the left of the Bluetooth connection.)

I hate to say this, but there is an old saying "If you want a job done properly, then do it yourself!".

I know from personal experience that some of those tiny plugs can look as if they are pushed firmly in place, when actually they are not.

I do hope that you manage to get it sorted out O.K. though!

The 2GB is a useful upgrade. However, it's not that hard to do yourself. Anguish has put up an excellent guide on this site with videos showing you how to do it. One of the steps involves unplugging the speaker cables from the motherboard. It sounds like the shop forgot to plug them back in again. You're well within your rights taking it back and demanding that the shop do it, but if that's not convenient then have a search for his article - it's really pretty straightforward and IMO it's always good to learn about how things work so you can fix them yourself!

i am almost tempted to try it but guess what, partr of the video is hearing what the person has to say. i cant hear it.. lol. even though im guessing everything has to be unplugged to do it meaning you have to have another pc here next to you to guide you

You could watch it with headphones plugged in, if they still work.

IIRC the only things you'll need to remove to re-connect the speaker cable are the keyboard (5 screws?) and the palmrest/touchpad, which only needs a fingernail and a credit card (or Spudger). The speakers are either a plug and socket which will only fit each other, or a ZIF ribbon cable. It's late here in the UK and I'm tired, which is why I'm not being overly specific or useful, but rest assured it's a pretty straightforward job and you could do it!

Three screws to take out the keyboard. Pop off the palmrest and the speaker plug is accessible. No need to even disconnect the keyboard or touchpad ribbon cables.
