Pretty much. Even with 1 GB of RAM, they do get hot. I honestly think passive cooling isn't the best of ideas for these devices, but I also understand that some people like their devices silent, so it's a tradeoff I guess.

A couple of things to help is to elevate it, whether by using a stand or getting it a few extra millimeters off the ground (hacked up rubber pads from a home improvement store help). Obviously, the laptop cooling pads help too, as any airflow at all will usually help.

Yes is there a OSX temp program or OSX Stats program?

To me the best app is iStat Menus. It is free and often the first utility app that is installed on all machines.

My machine runs around 40ºC, startup it's at 25º (right now) but hovered at around 45ºC when I was installing things off a flash drive (Office 08 and iPhoto). I think that's about as high as I saw it. Right now it's at 25ºC with 50% CPU power being consumed by Safari and Word launching. I have only 1 GB of ram right now.

Thanx for the iStats program.

I have been monitoring my temp all day and it's around 40ºC, this seems high to me since you have stated that yours runs around 25ºC. I'm running 10.6.1 SL w/ 1GB of RAM, wanted to know if my temp will go up if I install the 2GB of RAM I just purchased?

I run 10.6.0, unfortunately OS X wants to do the combo update to 10.6.2 and I'm not sure what to do with that. With that said, 25ºC was my "boot" temp. When in use and often on my lap it will go to 40-45ºC. I would not worry about 40ºC. My MP, which is on all day runs at 40ºC constantly with iTunes, Hulu, Safari, mail and iChat open. I'm not real certain 40ºC would be anything I'd worry about especially since the 10v uses passive cooling.

I'm also running iStats but it's a bit pointless running any temperature program as the only temperature sensor the 10v has on board is the hard disk. Anyway, I've been using my 10v now for around 3 hours - surfing using Safari, running Adium, iCal and have Growl running and iStats is reporting 45C HD temp. My stats are in my signature but I have a 10v, stock 160GB HD, 2GB Corsair 800Mhz/PC2-6400 Ram, WWAN card, No Bluetooth, and the little darling is sitting on my knee and plugged into the mains.

why are your minis so cool
my mini has about 40-50° Celcius after an hour in idle and about 65-70° celcius when i do something that stresses my cpu the mini then gets really hot
do i have to worry with my temps?
i already contacted dell and they swapped my mainboard a while ago...before,i had 60° in idle and more than 75° at load
i think these temps depend on the vid of the cpu as lower this id is as higher the temps are. i know this from my desktop pc
actally i have a vid of 0,925V witch is really low
i consider to contact dell again because the high temps can be really annoying

My Sys:
Win XP
1Gb RAm...mini was never open

So the mainboard really caused the problem?

I just got a refurb 10v and I am getting about 50C or so just surfing around the internet. I think this is extremely hot, but it seems like most of you guys get the temps around there as well.
