I worked at FedEx, and I still usually prefer my UPS guy.

I've had better luck with UPS in 20 years of buying stuff online or over the phone.

Six of one, half dozen of the other.

I know people who work in FedEx and UPS warehouses, where they handle the packages and load the trucks before they ship out. They are usually so busy and bogged down with packages that they could care less about what is inside, which side is facing up, if the contents are fragile. As long as they stay on-schedule, they are happy. They want things to be delivered on-time, not in good condition... it is sad.

Specifically around holidays, I have heard horror stories from my friend about his coworkers taking Dell marked boxes (obviously they should be careful, considering contents are probably PC or electronics) and tossing them across the warehouse to another worker, who may or may not catch it.

And we all need to vent...

(1) love my UPS guy, hate the smashed boxes he delivers
(2) love my fedex home guy, hate that fedex will never do a package pickup here.
(3) love my fedex ground guy, want to beat fedex to a pulp because the closest depot for using fedex return labels (can't be a local drop-off) is 45 minutes away.

Thank you, D and everyone who had read this.
