Default usb help - 10-05-2009, 07:54 AM

i formatted my usb to ntfs to see what it would do and now my computer can see it but i cant format it back to fat32..it says its not formatted and its a 2gb lexar and when i open properties is says 0bytes..help would be awesome

try partitioning it to enable formatting again.

Best you use HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool for your USB Stick. You can download it and just start the tool. It makes your Stick useable without any size limitations.

i dont think its working..i start it and it says checking device..it seems to be taking forever. also when i got into properties under volume it says disk: disk 5, type:unknown, status: unreadable, partition style: not applicable, capacity: 0mb

I've found that when flash storage reports a capacity of 0 in partitioning programs, BIOS, etc., it's indicative of hardware failure.

ya i was hoping not but hell its only 2gb and those are like 8 bucks..thanks for everyones help..none worked..lol..

bought a 4gb usb stick used the flashnul to copy unr image to usb well fried the usb again doin same thing as last time..oh well got it at walmart. just ill take it back and say it didnt work..lol..im not doin the usb thing with ubuntu till all the kinks are worked out
