Default Just ordered Mini 10v now having serious doubts... Please advise - 10-02-2009, 12:54 AM

Having been a Mac user for the past 4 years when it came to purchasing a netbook I immediately decided I wanted something that would easily run OS X.

I bought a Samsung NC10 and although NetbookInstaller works to install on it, mine came with UK keyboard so brightness controls etc didn't work. I wanted something with a little more compatibilty so I gave the NC10 to my sister and ordered a mini 10v with 6 cell battery yesterday.

Not knowing the 6 cell battery sticks out the bottom as opposed to the flush 6 cell battery on the NC10, I am starting to doubt my decision :/

Haven't seen this netbook in person before just on the net.

i have the exact set up... it came monday and i love it.. being that theres no internal fan the 'slope' that the battery causes might be good for it being that more air can now get under the netbook itself..

im typing this reply on the 10v with 6cell battery running snow leopard 10.6.1

besides it was only what.. 40 dollar upgrade or 35 something like that... you get more battery life... its worth the upgrade if your not going to be at a desk all the time where you can just plug it in

its a cheap upgrade but if you were to go by the 6cell down the road itd cost you more.. but then you would have 2 batteries instead of one.. but whatever

i say you made a good choice with upgrading the battery

Thanks for the repy KevNJ.

And I know this is a Dell forum but has anyone used a NC10 before? Is the Mini 10v better/as nice to work on?

I have also read some people do not lie the trackpad on the mini 10v? What is the complaint?

The keypad has a sketchy feel to it to me, meaning it feels like I'm jumping slightly from where I hold my finger to where the click reads. It's been the same on several 10v's that have come and gone from the shop, so it's know it's not an issue with one pad. I use a cordless mouse (logitech nano) and I love it. The mouse also has the advantage of the scroll wheel and left/right scrolling.

BTW - you will be very happy you got the 6-cell. Absolute oodles of battery life.

The Mini 10v trackpad woes have been resolved, thanks to Meklort's great work on the trackpad driver!

If you don't want your 6-cell I'll trade you for my 3-cell.
