Bluetooth is a standard and a communications protocol primarily designed for low power consumption, with a short range. So says Wikipedia's BT article, which also has exact specs for each range.

"Wikipedia" can't live with it, can't live without it

Personally I wanted Bluetooth just so that I could use a mouse without having to have a receiver plugged into a USB port all the time, and although they seem to be getting smaller and smaller (the receivers that is!) they do still take up a port.

I started off with a Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000, but I am currently waiting to try a Dell (Logitech) one which should hopefully arrive within the next few days!

I noticed there are a couple of different types of the blue tooth modules on Ebay, some that use the built in internal antennas in the 10v and some that have their own antenna, some that have EDR and some that don't, etc. The guy in Texas told me that his module is not the same unit that comes in the 10v. I don't know if that's good or bad, but I'd prefer the actual Dell unit I think.

Anybody have any more details about the actual differences?

Is there a guide to install the Bluethooth? I am going to upgrade the ram on my Nick hackintosh and thought I'd add BT at the same time.

I purchased one of the Bluetooth modules from EBAY and last night I took the like Nick Mini apart. I upgraded the HDD to 500 Gig 5400rpm, increased the ram to 2 gig of DDR2 6400, and added the Bluetooth module. Everything is working fine.

When you watch the video for removing the palm rest you will see the slot where the Bluetooth module goes. See this pic and look at the square green box just right of center. That is where the module goes into. Mind just snapped into place and the cable went into the empty connector just to the left.

Thanks for the reply. If you don't mind, where did you buy your HD and ram?
