Question Low battery life - I think.. - 09-19-2009, 10:59 AM

I've got a UK 10v running OS X 10.5.8. Aside from the trackpad, as I've said elsewhere, I'm very happy with it. Except..

I turned my netbook on just after 11am. It was at 74% battery. It's now 11.57am, and down to 27%.

Is the battery indicator a little out in OS X sometimes, or do I genuinely have a battery that wouldn't even get 2 hours life out of it? Just so you know, I've had it sitting there with a single webpage open (no, not for that!) most of the time and running absolutely nothing else.

Does anyone have any views on this?

Thanks as always,

Meklort's trackpad driver saved my sanity

The Intel SpeedStep power management does not work under OSX and the cpu runs full bore all the time. That may be causing short battery life, especially if you have the 3 cell battery.

So is the battery life in OS X much shorter?

What's the average battery-life for you guys (3cell and 6cell)?

Well I get around 2.5 - 3hrs with a 3-cell on light duties (internet browsing etc) with the brightness on the lowest level (which doesn't really seem that low)

No wireless on but brightness and audio all the way up watching a divx movie I get 2:15. Wireless is supposed to suck the life out of laptop.
