Default external monitor works with win7, but not os-x - 09-10-2009, 03:19 PM

external monitor works with win7, but not os-x....

i get horizontal lines thru external monitor and dell screen when i plug in external dell monitor while in os-x....

any ideas? thoughts? suggestions? thanks.

someone said "Sounds like the Mac is running at too high of a resolution for the monitor to handle or too high of a refresh rate. Try knocking the refresh rate down a bit."

make sense? thanks again for all the help

I had issues with getting my external monitor to work with my mini 10v osx. I would only see the desktop on the external monitor, but even when I opened applications and they were displayed on my mini 10v, my external monitor still only displayed the desktop.

I fiddled around and the last setting I changed, if memory serves me right, was something like "mirroring." After that I get only some wierd horizontal lines like you are experiencing on my mini 10v and my external monitor. If I unplug the external monitor, then my mini 10v screen is displayed properly.

Anyone know how to reset the video settings ?

If it is the continue button outside of screen boundaries see if this thread helps.

I got my Dell 10v working with 10.6.1 with external monitors as long as I use the external monitor to *extend* instead of *mirror* my display.... though I never got it working with KVM switches.

I got it working with projectors though. Black background and stripes occur if I turn on Mirroring; solid blue (a bluish colour similar to my Dell cover) and nothing else when I turn mirroring off.

I read somewhere that the newer video drivers don't support mirroring, but that you can install the old ones to get that ability (I believe that the NetbookInstaller has the option to do that). I've attached mine to my Dell 24", and was able to run 1920x1200 with no problem (and surprising clarity, considering it is analog VGA)...
