Default where to tap into 12 volt? - 09-09-2009, 02:38 AM

I am using my mini 10v to power my carputer setup. I need to find a 12 volt point on the 10v to tap into, so I can have it trigger a relay to turn on my HD radio. I want to have 12v power when the computer is awakened, so the HD is triggered on, when my computer is on. That way the computer will see the HD radio when it wakes from sleep.

Anybody have an idea where I can tap into 12v? Someone mentioned the HD. On an older computer with a 4 wire molex power connector, that was easy. On the super slim, integrated, ribbon cable everything of the 10v, not so easy.

any tips?

Use a smaller rated relay and run it off the power LED. I have a small relay I use to trigger reverse lights in an RC car, would probably work great, I'll get the PN when I get home.
Otherwise use a voltmeter and start prodding around.
