I did a search on the forum for hinge and plastic, because this was bugging me. Out of the box, both "hinge covers" on my 10v were slightly out of alignment, at the point where the hinge cover attaches to the lid, the point toward the edge of the machine on both sides is lifted up about a millimeter or so. It's as if the hinge-cover-placer-machine was feeling angry that day, and pushed them in from the sides with a little too much force
Doesn't interfere with the operation in the slightest, and I don't hear or see any scuffing or plastic on plastic when I open and close the lid.
Good to know it's just sloppy Dell design and not my particular model.
