Default Attempted Bluetooth Terminal mod... now 10v won't boot up! - 08-27-2009, 01:39 AM

Alright, I need some help guys...

I, being stupid, ran the script melkort made from page one from this thread: http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/gene...nal-mod-9.html on my Dell Mini 10v with 10.5.8. It said it worked and reboot to see changes. Upon reboot, it hangs at the Apple logo and spinny thing.

I've tried turning off Bluetooth in the BIOS and well as legacy support, even trying to boot into safemode, but no matter what I do it hangs on the Apple logo and the spinny thing. Help!

After I tried safemode, I tried verbose mode at it hanged on some error that said voodoo.hda had invalid sound settings, so using single-user mode and "nano" at the command line I deleted voodoo.hda from my system. On top of that, I also removed the installed file from the /Extra/Dell9Ext/bluetooth_patcher.sh also using nano. After that I ran a kext refresh, and it still didn't work!

Now, upon verbose mode, it hangs when its telling me about my internet, it says something like "Starting Up" when its refering to the internet, but it never goes anywhere, wired or wireless.

I have some very VERY important files on my machine and even though I do have backups they are old and I would really really prefer not to gave to reinstall and loose those files. Please help!

Bump!

I really love these forums, but this is truly only the second question I've really ever needed help with, and nobody helped me on this last one.

I know you might only have a thought on how to fix it, but I'd love to hear it...

This is getting crazy! My 10v has been unusable for the past 2 weeks with precious files on them... someone must have a clue on how to fix this!

I can provide any extra details you may need...

The easiest thing I can suggest is to undo the "bluetooth terminal mod" ? Who knows, maybe you have a defective bluetooth device ?

or try creating a Ubuntu bootable memory stick. Once you are able to boot up with Ubuntu, you will have to install the application that allows you to read the apple file system (read this: http://groups.google.com/group/cwelu...f26179daf5d076 )

then copy the files you need to the memory stick.

Well I know the bluetooth works cause I had used it before... and the first thing I tried was removing the file and refreshing the .kexts list and that didn't work.

I'll have to take a look at the Ubuntu page you sent me to, I'm somewhat familar with Ubuntu so I guess it shouldn't be too hard just to get the files I need off...

Really appreciate the advice.
