Why would he be kidding? This is a valid question because some manufacturers allow for upgrades without voiding the warranty and some do not. Maybe he does not know in this case...
I would assume that opening the 10v to upgrade RAM would void your warranty because the process is not as simple as opening an access door on the bottom of the netbook. You have to disassemble the entire thing
Now, please be considerate to other members of the forum. MyDellMini is supposed to be a friendly place to ask for help... not a place you get made fun of for asking legit questions.
If this sort of behavior becomes a regular thing on MyDellMini, I am sure the infraction/warning system will be put into more strict effect
