20 minutes while I was working, answering phones, helping customers. I have a knack for taking laptops apart. Watch the 3 youtube videos. I paused it while I was working on it after each task. It's not hard to do if you have a gentle touch and no fear!

i had trouble taking off the palm rest, couldn't get it to snap free...also couldn't get the keyboard removed initially, stiff business card worked alot better than a screwdriver for me.....the furthest down i'll have to go in the future is the keyboard to replace the hd , so shouldn't be a problem.

15-20 minutes here. I've done a few of them now, and the hardest part is getting off the top chassis cover (keyboard bezel/palm rest). Just work the left side loose first, and the rest comes off after that no problem.
I use a paper clip-like device (it's actually a tool to insert in the manual eject hole of CD drives) through the middle screw hole to push the keyboard up so you can remove it. Way easier than trying to pry out the keyboard.
The only part in reassembly to watch for is putting the top/palmrest back on. I put the back in first, as there are tabs which must fit into slots on the back, and if you push down instead of fitting them in first, you'll break them off.
Apart from that, piece of cake (if you're at all familiar with disassembly of notebooks). That said, it would probably take me 2 hours to change the oil in my car!

Thanks for the tips lancorp. I have only done one memory upgrade and it was quite the process. You are right about the keyboard bezel being the biggest pain in the whole process. After upgrading my friend's 10V I decided to order one for me and upgrade that as well. For the life of me I can't see why Dell doesn't offer a 2 gig upgrade- they sure could make a boat load of cash by adding that option.
