Default MAC OS 10.5.6 & 2GB RAM, What Did I Do Wrong? - 07-31-2009, 03:25 AM

Okay, here we go! This is what I'm installing & what I did.....

1) 2GB RAM Kingston DDR2 PC-25300 (Fry's 24.99)
1) 64GB SSD Kingston HD (Fry's 140.99)

1) Dell Mini 10V with 1024x600 Display

1) Updated BIO's to A04 on Windows XP!
2) Installed the 2GB of RAM. Tested Mini 10V & everything worked perfect!
3) Put 64GB SSD Kingston HD in firewire external case. Hooked it up to my mac. Formatted the drive for Intel Based Mac's using Mac OS X 10.5.6 DVD & installed Max OS 10.5.6.....
4) Then I put the 64GB SSD Kingston HD into my Dell Mini 10v.
5) NO DICE!!!

All I got was a few lines of text on the screen. First 5 lines were about copy rights & patents. Next line was about Realtek & PCI-E Ethernet Controller v1.13. Last 3 lines looked like this:

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM.
Operating System not found

So what did I do wrong? I guess I need help with the exact steps how to make this work. Do I need to download something to make this work? I also have the external Dell DVD drive if that will help out. Someone let know. Thanks for your help.....

The Weasel!!!

Do you have the bootloader installed? Remember that the BIOS cannot load an OS which is on anything other than a FAT or NTFS partition, so a Mac OS Extended Journalled formatted drive will not work without a bootloader.

Check out reydemia's guide on installing OS X on the mini 10v. After following the guide, my 10v's working 100%. There's links to the stuff you need to download.
