Default 10v came with light scratch on cover - 07-27-2009, 06:29 PM

I received it Saturday. Noticed the light scratch. It works perfectly and I LOVE it...but I don't love the scratch.

I emailed dell and am awaiting a response. I wonder if there is a way to simply replace the cover...anyone know? I'd hate to have to send this one back...if for no other reason than it would mean I have to wait to have fun personalizing stuff on it!

Any experience? Are the covers interchangeable like you might see on some cell phones? If they are I sure cannot see anyway to change them.

Brand new, or from the outlet? You may be SOL if it's from the outlet. Not sure about how willing they are to do anything about it if it's brand new though.

Its a pain to replace the cover, even if they would agree to send you one. If you added memory to your Mini, then you could probably handle the cover swap though.

Best bet, complain to Dell, make them build a new system and send it to you before you send back the old one. You could then just swap the HDs and then send back the scratched one. Dell Support isnt as bad as people usually make them out to be, but you just have to get a good tech on the phone.
