Default Swapping out 10v case with mini 10 - 07-20-2009, 08:12 PM

Does anyone know if you can swap out with mini 10v's plastic housing with the magnesium alloy case of the mini 10? I'm pretty sure they're the same size, I just want my 10v to be a bit more durable. Anyone try this? Thanks.

That's a great question, and I think it will depend largely on the placement of the screws and the venting. Also be aware if you decide to do this that taking apart the LCD is much more of an animal than it is to do the bottom half. Although physically it appears to be easier there is a much greater chance of screwing it up and putting a big scratch in the case.

I would say no, because of the position and type of external ports it would make it impossible to fit the 10v mobo into the mini 10 case.

does this help?

photo I took earlier today while upgrading my 10v's RAM to 2GB - hope it may clear up where some of the bits go (look at others in that set for more info)

After having torn both a 10 and 10v down completely trying to swap LCD's, I can tell you definatively that no, the cases are not interchangeable. The internals are quite different.
