Default Ethernet Issues - 07-15-2009, 03:27 PM

I Have a mini10v with a Realtek 810 ethernet card. I'm at the beach in a place that has ethernet connection only. My Friend's Acer Netbook logs in fine, but my Dell sits on acquiring network adress for a few min then goes to limited or No connectivity. I have tried disabling the wireless, tried upgrading the driver. Anyone have any suggestions?

Lost in Maine.

Try changing the link speed on the adapter to something fixed liked 100Mbps, then 10Mbps. It may be having problems negotiating a speed with the remote interface.

Or it is just a bad card, Realtek is like the Wal-Mart of on-board cheap chipsets. They make a decent amount of products, but there QC is something to be desired. You can start out by checking the preamble of the device and try that a few different ways. Most of the time that is the issue.

I can't think of a better place to be lost this time of year than Maine

LAN settings? What are they? Are you connecting with a Static IP set? Static DNS? In CMD run ipconfig and tell me what it spit out? My money would be that its a software/windows issue more than association with the card itself.
