Unfortunately, XP will not run from a USB drive. You could always do it the other way around by leaving XP on the main HDD and running OSX from the SD card.

hmm. i wonder what would happen if i didn't have a main hdd (say it crashed or something) and all i had was the xp image on the sd? if 1) one can boot from sd, and 2) the sd card has system files on it, i can't imagine why one couldn't boot from the sd.
that having been said, i've been really out of the winbloze world for over ten years now, since i discovered solaris and the rest of the unix world, and what i used to know, i've pretty much forgotten. i really would like a backup xp capability with the minimum resources possible, just in case i need it to install some software, etc.
