Gentlemen,

This is a truly impressive thread, even though about 95% of it is over my head. It has been a very illuminating peek "into the kitchen." I'm amazed at the amount of effort that has gone into this entire project, including all the painstaking work on the audio alone, and even more amazed at what has resulted for a noob like me: an (almost) fully functional hackintosh. This is largely thanks to the simple steps and videos that have been compiled.

Like some of you, I have everything working except the audio. Seeing all the code flying back and forth, and the (to me) daunting level of technical complexity involved, I'm hesitant to "experiment" with any fixes I won't have the ability to back out of. I'd guess many noob lurkers feel the same way.

That said, once you have the "recipe" perfected I eagerly await the publication of the "Audio Cookbook." I wish I could do something more than cheer the effort along, but the only code I'm proficient with is the one that opens my garage door. And even that's iffy.

Audio already works just read back on afew of my posts you need the 4 kexts described in the first post and install them using kexthelper and and you will be good to go

I originally tried the VooDoo method and it worked as advertised until the Mini went to sleep. Then nada. Next I downloaded your zip and did try the kext install twice after deleting all the VooDoo kexts I could find. Still nada.

BTW, I Spotlight searched for anything ending in a kext and trashed everything I thought was VooDoo related. But I didn't trash any Apple HDA files. Anyplace else the legacy VooDoo files could be hiding? Anything else I need to trash?

remove voodoo audio stuff reboot then install the 4 kexts applehda legacyapplehda verbhelper hdaenabler then reboot and go into system preference it should be there. audio works for me even after sleep i do have a habit of adjusted the audio before i play something using the volume keys YMMV GL

So I just got my 10v and I want to take the plunge into OSX land.. Should I just follow mechdrews guide/videos for the same? Or is there an updated guide with the audio fix somewhere else? TIA!

Here's my install process. Please tell me what I've missed.

Trashed the original zipped folder. Re-dowloaded and unzipped the folder from your post. Restarted. Checked audio in system preferences and found "no output device." Pressed volume up and got the circle with the line through it, confirming no audio. Restarted. Opened kexthelper and dragged in the four files. Authenticated. Hit "Easy Install." It came back saying everything looked okay. Rebooted.

Nada.

Troubleshooting: when I installed the VooDoo kexts I noticed there was an "Extra's" folder in which they lived. I Spotlighted AppleHDA.kext and found AppleHDA.kext and LegacyAppleHDA.kext in Backup/Extensions. HDAEnabler.kext lives in the same place as does VerbHelper. I'm assuming this means the kexts did install.

If that's correct, and they have installed in the right place, what do I do next?

I'm a noob myself and the guide resulted in me typing this over a wifi connection on a 99% fully functional Mini 10v running OS X 10.5.7. Judging by my Mini's performance over the last two days, it's easy to forget this isn't a Mac, except for the shitty touchpad and the occasional hang on booting. Judging by the size of this particular thread it appears Sound is the final frontier, although many have either avoided or overcome this issue.

While sound is not a deal breaker for me personally (wireless connectivity is) I would definitely like to get it working and trust that the fervent efforts of the community will eventually yield a fix for my audio issues.

As this thread mentions there is an effort afoot to create a "vanilla" install that uses only Apple code--I think I'm stating this correctly--which could result in a completely seamless "fit." Until then, as a hedge against frustration, I'd suggest weighing any disappointment over a "perfect" install (screen size, trackpad) against the dubious pleasure of using Windows.

Then I'd go for it.

Well after playing with it some more, I have installed AppleHDA, LegacyAppleHDA, VerbHelper, HDAEnabler, and IOAudioFamily and the Audio is golden, not sure why I need all 5 to make it work an others just need 4. Either way it is working.

Very nice work with the audio drivers. I just removed my VoodooHDA and VirtualAudioDriver kexts and installed the new ones and it works great now, speaker, headphones, and internal mic. It's great!

Where did you find the IOAudioFamily.kext?
