I have installed the NC10 10.5.6 Install Package mentioned here in the thread to fix the sound problem. And I have sound e.g. in the system preferences when I play example-files, no problem here. But: Safari ist still quiet. When I run flash videos on the apple site or youtube, i get no sound at all. Any idea why's that? I updated Safari from 3.2 -> Safari 4 and also installed the newest flash player from the Adobe-site. Quicktime movies are also not working with sound, it seems that the system preferences is the only thing that let me hear some sound. Edit: Ok, problem solved - it was just about getting the right output setting in the system preferences, sound's working perfectly now. It's getting better and better with my 10v  - OSX 10.5.7 including all updates - Wifi - Sound - Integrated Webcam - USB - Standby ... everything's perfectly working! webbi |

I got OS X 10.5.6 installed and running on my 10v. I run the .DMG for the combo update to 10.5.7, and when it restarts, it goes to a gray desktop, where it has the outlines of my desktop and dock, but its all completely gray and white. I get a warning in a regular looking box that says restart your computer, so I do, but i keep getting the same thing. I restarted about 10 times. Was there something i was supposed to do before i installed the combo update? maybe its because i ran the samsung nc 10 drivers before i ran the update? |

Just contacted Dell about getting 2GB installed at the factory. NO WAY ! ! ! They would not even discuss; in fact, they were rather abrupt and almost rude about it.  After watching the great two-part video on this subject I am convinced I can do it; but I can almost imagine the laughter in the Dell service department if I break anything. Oh, well ! |

I'm also having a sound problem. Got 10.5.6 installed. Everything works fine (it took a few efforts). Installed the drivers anguish linked to at the beginning of this post. Sound on the built in speakers works fine. But nothing out of the headphone port. Even when I change the settings in system preferences. Anybody have any suggestions. I'm stumped but the lack of headphone settings is bumming me out. Hard to use this on the train. Thanks in advance |

Sound is obviously a hot topic at this point. I've grabbed the AppleHDA.kext that is a close match to our hardware. Do I just replace the AppleHDA.kext that is already in /System/Library/Extensions (then fix permissions, etc.)? Much thanks. |
