meklort ! You are a good man. Thank you for your continuing effort.

I used an external monitor. Before you boot into the OSX install from the USB syslinux boot, switch to the external.

Mini 9's are no more. You may be able to find one on ebay. Dell has stopped selling them.

I used an external monitor to install OSX, and I used one when upgrading to 10.5.7. It appears to work fine. I've not played with it to drive a resolution higher than 1280x1024 on an external. YMMV.

I've noticed no differences playing with my budddy's mini9 vs my mini10v. I'm not an OSX power user, however.

I'm running the wireless g card, which works quite well. It can be a little picky if you misstype a security password (you have to exit the cfg wizard and start over..), but once you get everything working, it works well.

And RE: the LCD.

I believe it is LED back-lit. In OSX, I get 15 levels of adjustment (16 levels total). In Ubuntu 9.04, I got 12.

Hi everyone, first time post here.

I'm quite interested by the Mini 10V Hackintosh. I've got a Dell D620 that's running Kalyway 10.5.2 at the moment so had a bit of practice with the whole Hackintosh scene.

Few questions about the 10V -

1) Does the ethernet work (I'm an IT Teccy and I'd like a 10V to take on-site with me as it's nice and light but ethernet is a must for configuring routers etc)

2) Will it go to sleep and of course will it wake up again afterwards?

Thanks!
Dan

There may be a couple Mini 9 stragglers on the dell refurb store. Also the Vostro A90 is still sold by Dell Business. I too am baffled by Dell's decision. In its favor, the 10v has a more standard hard disk, sorry Runcore.

Mac OS X Netbook Compatibility Chart (Updated June 2009: Dell Mini 10v) | Boing Boing Gadgets has the 10v not supporting all its devices under OS X. Post a comment there correcting them once it gets sorted out here. We've really only had a few days so far.

Hmm, I wonder if I should pick up a 10v.
I mean I love my Mini9 but I am curious about the 10v...might be worth playing with just to see which I like more.

I wonder if I could use my Time Machine Backup to install the exact same install on a 10v from my Mini9 and then just update drivers as needed.

Don't be sorry. It's a choice, really. The RunCores are still viable choices if you are interested in silent, speedy operations. I'll betcha a Mini with a RunCore SSD will impact battery life less than a conventional HD.

Personally, my Mini will have a SSD - probably RunCore and if I need more storage, that's what the external drives and SDHC cards are for.

YMMV
