Default Help! Kids allowed upgrades to Mini 10V and now it won't run ..... - 06-20-2012, 03:03 AM

New to this forum and to the Mini 10V but hoping for some help. Running Mac OS as it was loaded when I received the Mini 10V.

Kids turned it on and saw some type of a update message wanting to down load 5 updates and click 'OK' by mistake.

When powered up, now it only gives a "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button until it turns off, then press the Power button again" message on a light grey screen with lost of codes in the left margin.

When restarted, same page/info appears.

The top line on the page reads:

panic(cpu 0x2acc8a): "Version mis-match between Kernel (23) and CPU PM (17) " @/SourceCache/snu/snu-1504.15.3/osfmk/i386/pmCPU.c:771
Debugger called: <panic>
Backtrace (CPU 0), Frame : Return Address (4 potential args on stack)
0x1c123c08 : 0x21b837 (0x5dd7fc 0x1c123bec 0x223ce1 0x0)

and then continues down the left margin in the same type codes as listed above.

Can anyone please help me correct this get back to the MAC OS I was using?

The easiest way to restore your system is to reinstall OS X over the top of your current installation. That way you will not lose your data. Do you recall what version (10.6.3? 10.6.7?) you were running before the kids did you the "favor" of updating it?

No, unfortunately I don't remember which version - is there an easy way to find out?

Well, the unsaid way was to look at the version number on the installation DVD you received with the 10V, but I guess we can assume you don't have one. In that case you'll need to purchase one, and I believe the most readily available is 10.6.3.

You can then check out the Hackintosh tutorials to see which version of Netbook Installer you need. If memory serves me as it should, I believe that is 0.8.4 RC 1. If you choose to update from there to 10.6.7 (I don't recommend going to 10.6.8 or you'll be in the same boat you are now.) then you will need the special NBI 200100612612351.

I contacted the gent whom I purchased the Mini10v from and he thinks it was 10.5.7 that was installed.

I'm going to read through the Hackintosh tutorial as you've suggested to find out how to install this again.

Will be going from scratch, as I've never attempted anything like this before.
