Default Which Snow Leopard updates can I definitely get working? - 03-30-2012, 10:43 AM

Hi all!

First off, I'm a real beginner! I've never done anything Hackintosh related before this, but i've finally managed to get Snow Leopard on my 10v after a few failed attempts. The NetbookInstaller I used was the NetbookBootMaker 0.8.3.

I'm currently on 10.6 Snow Leopard but want to update, after reading through a lot of the threads it seems like no one has found a 100% 10.6.8 guide to get it working. The first time I tried to install Snow Leopard I actually jumped straight into it and updated to 10.6.8 not even researching about the outcome, and I got the message about 'hibernation' being so many seconds old. And then it would restart and do the same again. Eventually, somehow, it booted into 10.6.8 but there was no Wifi and it was painfully sluggish.

Finally I figured out which Netbook Installer to use and got it working, very speedily, trackpad working great with two/three finger gestures and Wifi, webcam, audio, you name it. However, I heard a lot about how much safer it can be to have the upgrades to 10.6.7 or 10.6.8 (correct me if i'm wrong on any of this by the way!)

So can anyone let me know any 100% guarantees to get at least 10.6.7 on my 10v, direct me to the correct Netbook Installer and what not, because I feel like a real noob.

EDIT: also forgot to mention, that although the 10v boots fine on 10.6, I get the weird hibernation message for a second before the apple logo appears, and then it boots normally, don't know what that's about

The netbook installer with a string of numbers ending in 5 worked for me up to 10.6.7.
I havn't tried 10.6.8 but I did lose sound going to 10.6.7.
After every update simply run the NBI once and reboot, this usually does the trick as I think the updates overwrite the kexts.

Hope this helps.

You can ignore the hibernation message - in my experience, you stop getting it after a few restarts.
