Default 10.6----> 10.6.7 Perpetual Boot ? - 03-14-2012, 06:22 PM

After I got 10.6 100% working on the 10v on a fresh install and then installed 10.6.7 and rebooted....I got the netbook icon then it rebooted and now it has been over an hour with the spinning loading animation.
Is this normal...?
I shut it off after 1.5 hours then rebooted.......same perpetual loading grey apple screen....should I just leave it 4 hours or something before doing a fresh install.
i did also pull out the external HD USB cable just as it rebooted after it installed 10.6.7.
The booting is set to look at the HD first after checking BIOS.

Should I just start again after 4 hours ! ?

BIOS is A06

I think I should have done below instead of installing 10.6 then installing 10.6.7 then rebooting...should have run the netbook installer twice maybe.....

QUOTE from other thread on 10v forum <<<<<Download the Combo Update from Apple, run NBI 351, run the Update, run NBI 351 again before you allow the machine to reboot.

After reboot NBI logo will appear in place of the normal gray Apple. NBI will be running and could take up to 20 minutes, so don't interrupt this process. The machine will again reboot once NBI has finished and will boot up to your desktop running 10.6.7.>>>>>

Well, I tried to get 10.6.7 working on my 10v with BIOS 6.0.
For whatever reason, it either got stuck on boot...then after running netbook installer before and after 10.6.7 it would boot to the wallpaper but then I got the spinnng ball of death ever few seconds with no dock or menu bar appearing....have installed 10.6 and am doing a time machine as I got sick of installing it fresh 4 times in 1 day.
Wish I knew why it won't install....and also after looking at the 10.6.7 updates, I wonder if it would really improve the experience on a Dell 10v or just take up an extra 1.4 GB of space.

When you turn it on and you get to the countdown bar stop it by pressing any key. Then type "recovery=yes" without the quotes, the text will appear bottom left then press enter.
hopefully you will then be on the desktop.
Run NBI 351 and re-start, it might take 10-20 mins.

Default 03-17-2012, 09:11 AM it to work with your instructions........I found yet another "COMPLETE" walkthrough from 10.6 install to 10.6.7 but they don't mention these small details which breaks the install unless you know in possession of a cool 10" netbook air.

Next stop 6-cell battery/SSD/2GB ram !
