Default Seems really slow - 01-09-2012, 06:24 PM

well hello,

I am new here. well i am new to posting, i have been kinda looking stuff over for a bit. I recently put on snow leopard on my 10v. I followed the gizmodo guide. ---really easy! i got the wifi and sound working.

so here is my question, is it slow to everyone. my dell 10v has a 2ghz processor, 1gb ram, and its the little atom inside. i have the 6cell battey, and the battery life seems amazing. but it kinda seems that there is always a little lag to it. i am thinking to just dual boot it with ubuntu, and xp.

any suggestions... sorry for the bad grammer... to many redbulls today... oh and hello again.

thanks for all the info from the past. and hopefully going forward.

EXACTLY. This seems very slow.

My system also says that it's a '2.05 GHz Unknown' processor. I have the dell mini 1011, followed the instructions as ahrenv did from gizmodo.

I'm wondering:

Is there something about A06 BIOS and/or NetbookInstaller 0.8.5pre that are not as functional with SL on the dell mini?

I'm tempted to just downgrade to A04 and test it out again, using an older NBI.

The computer seems to think its a major task to:
have the dock appear/disappear
view content in 'grid' form
watch anything with flash (I updated to most recent flash, though I saw a website that suggested downgrading to a different version)
Using expose
~~Most of these things require the graphics card... But NBI should've installed these kexts.

Thanks for your help!

I'm running 10.6.8 on a 10v (1011) with A06 bios and a 1.6ghz processor and 1gb ram.
It does take a while to boot, I've never timed it but once running exposing the dock which I autohide to give more desktop comes up instantly as do most menu options. It will play normal flash reasonably but not HD.
Loading Photoshop cs4 is fairly quick but stitching 5 photos into a panorama can take a while.
I also have win7 and Ubuntu on it and they run no faster or slower on it.

I think this is related to AppleIntelGMA950.kext... which I will be creating a post about momentarily...

AppleIntelGMA950.kext not working

Check that post in this forum for the answer... I'm pretty sure that will solve your issue.
