Default 10.6.4, SSD and kernel panic - 10-04-2011, 08:02 AM

Hi

I wanted an SSD drive so I bought one, cloned the old one and copied it onto the ssd.
Ran Netbookintaller the version with all the numbers in the specific thread here.
It worked for two days but wouldn't wake from sleep today (Legacy USB support is disabled).
Then I forced it to shut down, and now all I get is a kernel panic (prohib sign)
Plugged the older drive as usb, booted from it, and reran nbi on the ssd.
Same thing
Any clue?
Thanks

Yo said that recovery=y didn't work, did that mean when you type recovery=y , it still didn't boot into recovery mode? What version of NBI did you run on the new SSD?
What brand is your new SSD?
Are you sure that hibernation is disabled?
What messages did you get when you entering boot verboose (-v)?

Hi thanks for taking the time, I really appreciate:

I typed recovery=y and did launch the boot screen then after some times I got the prohib sign and spinning wheel (like forever)
I ran this version NetbookInstaller 20100616212351.app
my ssd is a Samsung 470 series, Itworked perfect for 3 days
I am not sure hibernation is disabled...I didn't ran the terminal on the SSD
sudo pmset hibernatemode 0 sudo rm /var/vm/sleepimage

but wouldn't that affect my hdd inside my dell mini? How can I make sure I only disable hibernation on the ssd?How could I tell the terminal to do that on the SSD connected on the USB ports?
Ran verbose
got a lot of reading ;-)

And something about a kext file not found and not available in early boot.
I recall having read thing about that one...I will investigate.

Forget about hibernation, since it now doesn't want to boot properly.

Why don't you just reinstall the OS X?

..I think I haven't been clear enough:
I have 2 problems with 2 drives:

the SSD is stuck on boot with prohib sign
the HD has the hibernation problem
Locked into safe mode

I am trying to solve both:

Concerning the SSD with the Prohib sign and that won't boot:
I get: a not loading kext com.apple driver apple HDA controller not found
and a warning on kext com.apple driver GMA950

Concerning the HD stuck on safe mode, and with the hibernate image too old, I've tried to do as said in other posts
1) turned the 2 usb/legacy? settings off in bios
2) disabled "secure virtual memory" in system preferences -> security
3) terminal:
sudo pmset hibernatemode 0
sudo rm /var/vm/sleepimage
4) reboot

It didn't work as I got this from the terminal
sudo pmset hibernatemode 0
sudo rm /var/vm/sleepimage
rm: /var/vm/sleepimage: No such file or directory

I can't reinstall because I don't have my usb stick with me, that would allow me to boot and I can make another one wince I don't have the dvd with me. I am on a research trip away from home...
Thanks
