I did 10.6.3 retail install via Oscar's (OS X 10.6.3 Retail DVD-->USB no MAC; A GUIDE) but used Mechdrew's approach w/ Linux DD (ubuntu) instead of CloneCD. So used the 2 USB stick method 2GB NBI 0.8.4RC1 loader & 16GB USB w/ 10.6.3 retail image
Order i did things
10.6.3 retail install, NBI 20100616212351 install, 10.6.7 combo update, NBI 20100616212351 install, reboot
I saw someone mention in another thread "Hackintosh settings" for the display. Is that something I should have changed before rebooting?
Upgrading to 10.6.7 from 10.6.3
Should I have installed in a different order?
Perhaps 10.6.3 retail install, NBI 20100616212351 install, reboot, combo update install, NBI install, reboot
10.6.3 retail install, NBI 20100616212351 install, reboot, combo update install, reboot, NBI 20100616212351 install?
or something else?
held shift, did recovery=y, got in. trying NBI again then will try DLing the combo and running it again. should i do NBI again after combo install before reboot, or reboot after combo then NBI again?
did NBI install again after recovery (didnt install combo yet) then restarted to test and black screen again hmmm.
Did recovery then changed display to hackintosh settings. reboot still black screen.
I'm also getting a message at the top during boot "HIBERNATE IMAGE IS TOO OLD BY 713 SECONDS" keeps going up every reboot.
OK I booted in recovery & reinstalled combo update, now it runs fine. did all sec updates; but avoiding 10.6.8 from what ive heard until 8.5 is RC1. Seems to be working now.
except. No sound & the trackpad is a little quirky. whenever i go to hit the button the pointer shoots to a different point on the screen. Any way to fix that? & how do i get the sound working. I installed flash and tried youtube, no sound. But i have gotten a beep when a security update installed successfully.
Sound works after shut down & restart. Trackpad is still driving me crazy though.
