Question 9 cell battery for 10v?? - 07-05-2011, 07:41 PM

I saw a listing for a 10v with a 9 cell battery.

I found a thread here that said Dell has no 9 cell for the 10v.
Could this be old info? Is there one?

I've seen 9 cells for other Dells - would they fit the 10v?

Help please - any info much appreciated.
J

I haven't seen a 9 cell for the 10v.

Dell made a 6 cell for the mini 10, not the 10v. With a small modification it will fit.
Walmart mini 10 6cell battery

After modifying the battery fits perfectly, locks in place as it should, and charges properly.

I bought mine from Walmart.com and at the time they were cheaper, but they still list them-
Walmart.com: Search Results for "dell laptop battery mini 10"

Site to store shipping is free and you can pay by PayPal.

I don't know if Dell still offers these for sale or not. I know some people don't like to buy from Walmart.

Thanks for your reply, underwhelmed. You have always been very helpful in responding to my questions.

When you have the time, can you take a look at this question for my please: Download locations for newer NBI? Update 10.6.3 to ?

Back to the thread at hand:
My 10v came with a 6 cell which fits it just fine - it does elevate the 10v from the desk, but that's OK. I am looking to buy another (used) 10v for redundancy, aka insurance, just in case... One I saw said the battery lasted for 8 hours on a charge. My 6 cell works for about 6.5 hrs so I wondered if there were something fishy or strange about the 8 hour number. I've since read that without video and minimal taxation on the battery, a 6 cell can give 8 hours of performance.

Thanks again for your input,
J
