I was another early trier of 10.6.8 who got the boot-loop-of-death, but I keep a USB stick with my NBI0.8.5pre-modded version of Snow Leopard handy. Simply booting from this and running OSX's built-in archive and install function rolled my Hackintosh back to a fully functional 10.6.0; then just reapply the NBI...351 patches and the 10.6.7 combo update. Takes an hour or so, but it's an easy enough fix.

I'm going to have to take the same steps as above, 10.6.7 combo update is still found on apple's website

I use SuperDuper to keep a bootable clone of my Mini 10v and when the 10.6.8 install failed (same issue as others report above), I booted from the clone running 10.6.7 and copied everything back to the internal drive. I was expecting a full wipe and install but SuperDuper just replaced the changed 10.6.8 files and I was up and running again in 10.6.7 in about 40 minutes.

Trying to update to your Mini 10v to 10.6.8? Read this thread first. Member damio says he has gotten 10.6.8 to work.

The FINAL 10.6.8 update thread.

10.6.8 not quite ready for those without a VERIFIED backup/restore method in my opinion.

I stopped at 10.6.5 too - "fear of the unknown".

Actually, it runs fine, so I'm quite leery to mess with it now unless I know what I'm getting into.
