hello all. Noob here. I successfully got my dell mini 10v to run osx. I started with a clean install of 10.6.3, then upgraded to 10.6.7 successfully with everything working. I am attempting to upgrade to 10.6.8. I was following bbkr extended instructions on post #108, but i have ran into a issue. I have got 10.6.8 to install with legacy kernel and the machine boots up fine but as expected no sound and sleep issues. here is where i am stuck.

There are two plists with "Inspiron 1011" string. The one that should be edited is in Contents/Resources/SupportFiles/machine.plist inside package.

Well....I am looking in the machine.plist and i can not find "Inspiron 1011" anywhere to replace with "MacBook4,1"


so yeah im totally stuck, as you can see there is no Inspiron 1011 value to edit. Please help. I would greatly apperciate it.

6) Edited plist in NetbookInstaller 20100616212351, replacing "Inspiron 1011" with "MacBook4,1", installed with the same defaults as in step 1, and rebooted.
7) Used Kext Helper B7 to install nawcom's SleepEnabler.kext, repaired kext permissions, and rebooted.

Sound, web, bluetooth, wireless, sleep, and App Store work.

Followed these instructions word-for-word when upgrading my Mini 10v from 10.6.0 to 10.6.8 - everything went perfectly smooth until I rebooted after step 7 and I had no sound. So, I did this...

I updated from 10.6.7 instead of installing from a fresh 10.6.3. Followed every step. Everything worked except for sound.

Went to "/Extra" and copied HDAEnabler.kext onto the Desktop. Ran KextBeast and rebooted. Sound works!

...and my sound was back! Thanks for the help guys, I couldn't have done it without you!!

Now, on to Software Update - wish me luck! lol

This was the last step I had done, as well. Like I wrote in my earlier post, I did the steps literally as written and I have sound working now.

I successfully got my sound working. My dell mini 10v is running osx 10.6.8. But now I have a new issue. I simply can not at all get my it to connect to a smb share. I have tried everything i can think of. When i was running 10.6.3 I could connect to smb shares no problem, just went to go, connect to server, typed in smb://192.168.0.xxx and bam there it was, now since upgrading to 10.6.8 it just says connecting forever. I only updated to 10.6.8 to be able to install the iLife 11 I purchased, as it would not let me install without the new software installer update (which you can not get unless you install 10.6.8).

I can connect to osx 10.6.8 on my win7 PC's through smb, and even remote desktop to it. Every other device in my house, android phones, tablets, multiple pcs, home network drives, all can communicate with my smb shares. But my OSX 10.6.8 hackintosh not happening at all. I have been googling for days, no help there (which is hard to believe), when i reinstall my SL 10.6.3 disc, I have no problems connecting to my smb shares.

So i basically thinking that I either have smb shares, or be able to use the ilife 11 i bought. Im just stumped.

Is there anyone that can connect to a smb share that runs 10.6.8 on there dell mini 10v? Please, Please help. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have a fix, but what I can tell you is that I have the exact same issue. I'm reasonably sure that this was working pre-10.6.8 as I had a share already saved. But when I try it now it just sits there forever trying to connect. A Win7 share that works on a MBP with Lion and my Ubuntu systems, but not on this Hackintosh.

It is working in the reverse, so my Win7 system can access the Dell via SMB (once I turn it on). And I have the same issue with the Ethernet connection as well.

Fortunately, I tried this on my backup drive instead of the main drive. Does anyone know what kext 0.8.5pre uses for sound for the 10v? I am hoping to fix sound by installing just this kext and hoping to not lose WiFi.

Did you follow the guide in post 108 verbatim? What version of 10.6 were you coming from? You may have to do a fresh run at it.
