The original 3-cell Dell battery that came with my Mini gave up the ghost without warning.
Not very many cycles on it, but I'm past the warranty period.
So I was scouting around for a reasonably priced replacement and found a lot of posts, both here and elsewhere, that many replacement batteries are not recognized by the Mini 1011 as valid and thus they can't be charged.
Looking on ebay I came across the seller quality_top (Ebay item 150514420385 among others). What he wrote in the listing sounded good, so did the price.
But I was still leery.........
So I emailed one of his customers who had bought a battery for the 1011 and asked if it worked and how well......not really expecting a reply - ebayers seem to be like that.
Anyway, this fellow emailed me back, turns out he lives in England, and tells me that the battery works just great.
So I took the plunge and ordered a 6-cell battery from this seller.
Took a little while to get to me in Canada, maybe two weeks, I didn't actually check, but it showed up three days ago and I tried it out.
The Dell Mini recognizes it and charges it with no problem. The battery is brand new, shows one charge cycle; it was about half charged when I received it.
After it was fullu charged, the run time that OS X calculated was 6 hours 40 minutes - initially it came up as around 5 hrs 50 minutes but as I started to use the Mini the time was recalculated several times and went all the way up to the 6 hr 40 minute mark.
So - for anyone needing a battery, I can certainly recommend the one that this seller is offering.
He also has 3-cell batteries but for the difference in price, I opted for the 6-cell one.
Hope this info helps someone.
Just wanted to give something back because this site has been great in helping people including myself to resolve Dell Mini OS X problems.
