Default Returning to Windows XP!!! - 04-27-2011, 03:39 AM

Can anyone show me a guide or explain how to reinstall XP?

I have sold my 10v and the buyer does not want mac os. I do not own an external drive and don't know where to begin using a usb stick.

I am hoping this will also fix a battery issue it has just developed. It won't run unless plugged into power outlet.

I would appreciate any help, or I will have to refund the buyer!

Thanks.

As far as I know there is no 100% legal way to create an install USB for XP as required by the forum guidelines even when your legally own XP CD. Thus you need to search the web a little bit deeper for "make a bootable usb installer for windows xp"

you might be right; but not sure since that's exactly what all of us do w/ OS X--put it on USB.

I managed to get Windows on USB a long time ago using WinToFlash; but from what i remember it was a real pain.

You could remove the keyboard and take the hard drive out (which is easy), pop it in an enclosure and install from another PC.

Tried that. Will not work with XP because of hardware differences. Thought there may be a work around I'm not aware of.

Sounds to me like you have an unhappy buyer & anything you do may not change him/her. If you disclosed that OSX was installed then I would let them ship it back to verify that it is a battery problem. I don't think you will have a problem reselling your mini if you just refund their $$. I would not pay for shipping though, let the buyer do that.

I hope it works out for both buyer & you.

You should have the Dell utilities disk that came with your 10V as well as the XP reinstallation CD. I had to use them when i pooched my Mini. I reformatted to DOZ, reinstalled Windowz and then re-hacked it back again.

Yep, Casper is right, but hamo does not have external CD drive... USB flash drive is the only way to start install. And WinToFlash does a good job only on retail Windows CD and not as good for OEM Dell Windows reinstallation CD... I do not see any solution but to obtain bootlegged disk image.
