Ladies and gentlefolk of mydellmini forums. I've recently purchased a slightly used Dell mini 10v. I'm a long time Mac user, but for the life of me, I can"t seem to figure out the correct
I've been able to get as far as getting a fresh install of 10.6 going, (retail copy).
As far as upgrading from there, after three attempts with different methods (all taken from suggestions in this here forum), the best I can get is to have OSX say there was an unexpected problem installing the build. It restarts, the NBI icon replaces the apple logo for about ten minutes, it restarts again, and then I'm hung at the snow leopard default desktop image with the cursor changing from the mouse cursor to SWoD and over and over again.
Alright, here's a couple o' questions:
1. I've read that using the NBI ***51 ONLY works for transitioning from 10.6.3 to 10.6.4 and above. Is this factual?
2. If so, am I to use a different version of NBI for upgrading from 10.6.0 to 10.6.3?
3. I've seen several places in which the order of installation events is switched around, is there a super-ultra-end-all-be-all guide for the installation process?
ie. What are the correct steps an idiot of my caliber should take?
4. (Extra Credit) Will I be able to update software using Software Update, once I've got 10.6.7 going?
Any help in the matter is greatly appreciated. I see the 10.6.7 specs in all of your footers, and it makes me green with envy! By the way, I rarely ever post in forums, and when I do, it's after failed trial and error, and hours of googling.
