Default Stuck on white apple load screen after update - 04-19-2011, 10:01 PM

Hi folks

new on the hackintosh scheme so be easy on me.

I have searched the forums but not found the answer for me

I got a 1011 with OS X already on it. When I booted it up worked fine and installed a couple of things like firefox etc. It then asked me to update and allowed it.

Since then it has been stuck on the apple screen with the circle going round for ever.

I have tried holding down shift key and I get a screen with a hard drive and some options

Boot Verbose
Boot Ignore Caches
Boot Single User
Memory info
Video Info

I have tried all Verbose and Ignore Caches and it won't get through that page.

In Single User it gets me to the :/root# screen but not sure what to do next.

Any advise greatly appreciated

Many thanks

I am new to this myself, so I could be totally wrong, but . . .

I think the problem lies with the fact that you updated the OS. You probably need to use the OS X boot flash drive to startup into the OS X on the Dell Mini, then run NBI (whichever version is installed on your Mini) to straighten out the anomalies. It should boot happily after that.

If you do not have a bootable version of OS X installed on a USB flash drive, you will need to make one. There are various instructions on how to make one out there. Having an Intel Mac makes it a whole lot easier.

Thanks Mark

I don't have a USB flash with OS X on it I'll take a look as to how you build one.

Hopefully you are right and will sort it out.
