Default Hanging circle with line through it - 03-25-2011, 06:32 PM

So I was trying to get hibernate working on OSX and gave netbookinstaller 8.4.1 rc2 a shot, after running it sans chameleon installer (it's already installed) it took a long time to run and from then on I get kp trying to boot osx.

Chameleon now loads straight to osx unless I hold shift to manually get into the windows partition.

OSX 10.6.3 dual boot win 7 ultimate.

Verbose boot shows it's hanging waiting for something... advice?

Hibernation doesn't work with that version of NBI.

I don't think anyone had success with Hibernation until NBI version 20100616212351 was custom written to allow the 10.6.4 update to work.

I should have been more clear, my osx is completely hosed, I can't even boot into it at all...

It says something about forcemode=y and then shows the apple screen for 30 seconds or so then kp.

I am hoping there is a way to repair this without reintsalling OSX...

BTWI am away from home with no access to a mac...

OK, sorry I didn't realize it was hosed.

Did you try recovery=y when selecting OS X to boot into recovery mode?

If you can boot in this way and re-run NBI I would select to install the Chameleon Boot loader.

Do you have your installation USB thumb drive with you? If you do, you should be able to boot from it and repair by selecting NBI from the Utilities menu.

Either way I would run NBI with the default settings. I'm pretty sure the version of Chameleon included is a customized build.

Thanks got it to boot with recovery so hopefully can fix it now.

BTW I am trying to get caught up, is there any reason to use the 8.5 pre or just stick with the one made for hihbernate?

I would skip the pre, it has several issues. Meklort is supposed to have a Release Candidate coming out soon.

The NBI 20100616212351 was written for the 10.6.4 update, but it works right up to 10.6.7.

The main advantage of the next NBI release will be that it consolidates NBI/NBM into one single application.

Hmmm.. well after running the long versioned nbi still won't boot other than recovery mode... does it matter that I am still on 10.6.3? I suppose I can always run an upgrade....
