NBI 0.8.5pre is a pre-release, Meklort says on his blog he will have a newer version, a release candidate out soon.
I avoid 0.8.5pre because it has known issues and will break an existing install on the mini 9's, which I have several of.

Thanks for the info.
I'll try installing the older Netbookinstaller over 10.6.3
Seems installing Netbookinstaller 201006.... over top of 10.6.3 that already had Netbookinstaller 0.8.5pre applied previously doesn't work.
The install progressbar goes about half way and then stopped.
After a while I had to re-authenticate.
Then the progress bar continued to sit half way.
Another request to re-authenticate
And then, suddenly, it was done.
So, I restarted the Mini and a couple of things were "fixed"
Boot starts with the Apple logo not the hard drive icon
Processor now reports as beeing 1.6 GHz
Model number is now Mac (instead of MacBook
Model Identifier is now Inspiron 1011 rather than Mac
When the Mac wakes up from sleed the cursor shows up, didn't before
Maybe I should now have another crack to upgrade to 10.6.4

On the BIOS front i have had more issues with A06 than A04 and as habit I have always downgraded first before installing OSX. It might not have any difference but sticking to this regime has always worked for me.
10.6.3 -> 10.6.6 I have always just downloaded the full combo update, applied it then ran the NBI 0.8.5pre before rebooting, i know it`s a pre-release but as yet not had any issues with any builds.
As to performing this and the missing links I will update this thread ASAP with more details on those procedures I`m in the process of building some USB sticks to house the OSX installer rather than an external hard drive, kinda like the Macbook Air funky USB sticks

I've recently installed OSX 10.6.6 on my Mini 10v, but the external vga isn't working. Is yours?

I successfully got OS X 10.6.6 running on my Mini 10v. It took two tries, as the rough notes below show, and sleep still isn't working, but I feel good that I did not have to reinstall.
I'll include the rough notes in case they can help someone else:
* Netbook was successfully running 10.6.3 * I don't remember all the steps I took to get it there but this is what I do remember * I followed a youtube video for dual booting * which didn't quite do it - I installed Chameleon by hand (should it have been installed by netbook maker?) * Installed Windows on 2nd partition - used winstall usb stick to assign letter=c to that partition, everything worked * Re-partioned the disk using gpartd? on a usb stick I made * created a new partition formatted HFS+ - create step created but failed formatting - ran either gpartd format or diskutil erase on it successfully * OS X partitions - OS X HD (original) OS X HD2 (new) * Windows partition now fails on boot - I'll fix this later * cloned OS X HD to OS X HD2 as backup * Installed 10.6.3 standalone combo update * ran netbook installer first * it worked but it took an awfully long time to boot * it appears netbook installer 0.7.4 RC1 runs automatically on (first?) boot now * updated OS X HD 2 to match OS X HD2 (carbon copy cloner) * Attempted to install 10.6.6 standalone combo updateon OS X HD (I want app store and new windows file system in disk utility) * installation worked but reboot failed - netbook installer ran (long time) then apple boot logo was still booting after an hour * booted to backup 2nd partition OS X HD2- ran disk repair on OS X HD - it needed it and permissions repair on 10.6.6) * reboot still hung up at apple logo * Rebooted to 10.6.3 OS X HD2 partition (grateful that chameleon still works) * repaired disk and permissions again (probably not needed) * ran netbook installer 0.8.5pre on original OS X HD * IT WORKED * still a sleep problem when I close the lid or select sleep * did not toggle hibernate as netbook installer wiki said it was still experimental * audio works - tested with siriusxm online
