This morning, when waking up my 10v that had the lid shut and was unplugged overnight because of thunderstorms, the sound didn't work. Using the tip in post #25 I restarted holding down the shift key, hit return when the hard drive icon appeared and it started up with the sound working.

Just wanted to add that after doing the re-install upgrade for my Mini to 10.6.6, I've noticed significantly poorer battery life. This is despite tweaking all of my power settings to be more conservative.
Has anyone noticed that as well?
Is there a solution?

I've reinstalled snow leopard 10.6.3 yesterday and you know what? I'm noticing a huge performance difference between 10.6.3 and 10.6.6 (the first one is way faster).
Has anyone noticed this? I've been having a lot of issues on 10.6.6 like small freezes during application usage, slow start-up,a constant hdd write/read activity, not to mention the sound issue (sound only worked after 2-3 reboots), but 10.6.3 seems to behave perfectly (faster, more stable, no sound issues, etc.).
Now I'm thinking of staying at 10.6.3 because I'm afraid of uprading to a higher version, due to the issues described above. Any recommendations?
