For no wifi card read, I had that problem when fixing my bluetooth on/off on 10.6.4. All I had to do was power down my mini and remove my wifi card. Put it back in and it was read again with no issues.

I did the modifications to the card reader so that it was read as a built in SD card reader from apple as opposed to a generic USB drive using this:

How-To : “Native” Card Reader driver for OSX86 | Prasys' Blog

and did the bluetooth terminal mod to get my on/off working for my bluetooth module.

Spent a few hours over the past couple of days trying to update to 10.6.6 from 10.6.4 on my 10v. no luck

First, downloaded the combo upgrade and installed. Before I did that, I re-installed netbookinstaller since I couldn't remember which version I had installed (that would be a nice enhancement for it to know what is there) The install of 10.6.6 failed, but the machine rebooted but I had lots of issues.

Second, re-installed 10.6.0 from USB stick, clean install. Then applied the 10.6.6 upgrade, system would not boot, spinning clock with apple logo forever on second boot after NBI runs on first boot. rebooted USB stick and told it to boot the MacOS partition and it booted. re-ran NBI and rebooted, things appeared OK. Sleep, Audio worked but internet access is EXTREMELY slow.

Third, re-installed 10.6.0 from USB stick, clean install. Applied the 10.6.4 upgrade, system rebooted everything works and internet access is back to normal. unless there is something that I really did wrong, I think I'm sticking around here for a while.

Default upgrade from 10.6.1 - 01-09-2011, 09:47 PM

Hi there,

Finally made the big leap from 10.6.1 => 10.6.5 (via combo update) and then to 10.6.6

seems to work fine although I spent hours debugging a "no sound" problem.

Turned out that the NBI 0.8.4 RC1 has some issues with 10.6.5 update and above.

You have to use the installer linked to from this thread

Mac OS X 10.6.5 notes

I think the NBI is called
NBI 20100616212351

In case you haven't done that yet, this may be one of the issues with no sound.

It seems to work fine now.

Default Sound Fix - 01-10-2011, 03:16 AM

I upgraded to 10.6.6 using the regular Apple Upgrade path, and then ran the latest NBI (20100616212351). I then rebooted. Everything worked fine but no sound.

Here is what I did to fix the sound issue:

I unplugged my bluetooth dongle (like a USB key that I picked up at Walmart for a few bucks)

I restarted the Dell MINI 10v while holding down the shift key

When the hard drive appeared I selected it (no other choice) as my drive is not divided to run windows.

Sound magically reappeared

Plugged my blue tooth key back in.

Everything is working fine now.

I successfully upgraded my 10v A06 from 10.6.2 to 10.6.5 (combo), then to 10.6.6, all with the 51 NBI. Sound took several reboots to get back, but it's working now, as is Wifi.

Lid Sleep technically works, however it's not perfect. The screen will turn off, and the harddrive seems to go to sleep, but there's an odd high-pitch noise that sounds as if its coming from the processor. 10.6.2 didn't make any sound at all when i closed the lid; it was more like a hibernate than a sleep (this coming from a primarily Windows 7 user fwiw). The computer wakes up way too fast for it to be turning everything off like before.

Anyone else notice this odd sleep behavior? Obviously I don't expect everything to work perfectly, but if there's an easy fix that'd be great.

Edit: More Information - the power LED still blinks on and off as usual, and everything but this noise is just as it was. It also takes several seconds longer to go into sleep-mode than before. Also, the battery life appears to be decreased. I usually show around 6-7 hours of life, now showing 4-5 and running down quicker.

*****OS X 10.6.6 Update*****

Instructions for my successful update from 10.6.5 to 10.6.6 -

- Download Mac OS X 10.6.6 update from Mac OS X v10.6.6 Update
- Run NBI 20100616212351 (don't change any settings in NBI)
- Install 10.6.6 update (do not reboot)
- Run NBI 20100616212351 again (don't change any settings in NBI)
- Reboot...

Note: The 10.6.6 update took approx. 17 minutes to complete, reboot after 2nd NBI run was no longer than normal OS X reboot. Had no issues with anything after 10.6.6 update. Lid close Sleep, sound, wifi all good as they were previously in 10.6.5 . App Store now located in Applications folder in dock menu. Haven't tried App Store yet...

After reading all the positiveness of going from 10.6.5 to 10.6.6 painlessly I decided to do it.

Now I get a kernel panic and a "You need to restart your computer" message.

It won't even boot off the USB I used to install from originally :-((

Any help appreciated!

Sorted it - I think!

Not sure how but convinced it to boot off the original 10.6.0 USB stick I created - this _may_ have been to do with legacy USB in the BIOS - not sure though. Reinstalled 10.6(.0) which fortunately didn't wipe everything. Ran NBI 20100616212351 then installed all the updates including 10.6.6. Seems OK!
