Default black screen of doom - 12-21-2010, 12:53 PM

Last night I put 10.6.0 on my 10v. All was ok except for the wireless. This am I restart and hit, I thought, f2 to get to the boot menu and all is black. Powers on and off but nothing else.

What can I do with this looming blackness?
Thanks!

Is the backlight on? Or is there simply nothing at all. I'm guessing you can't get to bios?

sounds like a hardware failure or you sure you haven't bricked it? now don't be shy?

bios is F2 isn't it?

people have reported that letting the battery run down while booted has produced a failure that breaks the bios with in osx, (bios is patched with mac efi, ((mac power management system)) in NBI) could that have happened?

asking not accusing

Can't imagine I bricked as I was using it the night before. No alterations between last use and black screen.

The box was plugged in so the battery did not run down.

If I have to replace the motherboard, does anyone have names for reliable people?

I just had the same problem. Black screen, nothing. I thought it was a hackintosh issue, but Dell concluded it was a hardware issue= the logic board failed. So, yeah, they fixed it under warranty though I had it running OS X. They did wipe the drive and reinstalled XP, but hey, it's working...

Interesting. Mine is second hand so logic board will have to get replaced the expensive way if at all.

Thanks for jumping in. I was sort of afraid that might be the answer.
